One of my classes this year is English III Honors. I was expecting a challenging course, especially because all of his former students told me so. He had previously taught seventh and eighth grade, but know teaches juniors and seniors. I had heard so much about all the essay writing we would be doing, as well as the vocabulary tests and the weekly journal assignments. Overall, I had anticipated a very challenging class, with tons of work, but it would pay off in the end.
So far, I have learned quite a lot in Mr. Forman's English class. I learned how to write a paper in APA format. I also added quite a few new words to my vocabulary, thanks to the SAT word lists we study every week. The class is always very interesting and interactive, in that everyone is involved and learning. We will occasionally use laptops to research, but this happens very rarely in class. We make flash cards a few times a week as a 'do now' for our SAT word lists.
I am excited to do the weekly journal assignments after reading over the curriculum, due to how interesting their content is. Mr. Forman grades these journal assignments by rolling a die. Each number of pips(the indents on each side) are a different aspect of the paper he will grade. This ranges anywhere from just checking spelling, to checking the whole entire paper top to bottom. I have heard Mr. Forman is a tough grader on all papers, but so far I am performing well in his class. To conclude, I am looking forward to acquiring more knowledge in Mr. Forman's English III Honors Class.
